- Know exactly how you will get from the airport/train station to your accommodations
- Print out these instructions along with your confirmation page for your accommodation, including address and contact details (you never know when your phone will die or not have signal or run out of battery) *JUST IN CASE*
- Plan for any SIM card or international phone plan you’d like to have through your home carrier or that you’ll purchase when you arrive
- Know how you will pay for your initial transportation and any other immediate purchases. This could be exchanging cash, withdrawing money from an ATM, or paying by debit or credit card (if you know they’ll be accepted).
- If you’re planning to use an ATM, see if there are any partner ATMs for your home bank where you can withdraw without fees
- Check ATM & credit card expiration dates to be sure they’ll still be valid
- Inform your bank and credit card of your travel plans so your cards will work when you arrive
- Check to see what tipping custom is at your destination (especially if you’ll take a taxi right away)
